Emigree Gap or even Emigrant Pass occurs as place on the California Trail where it crosses the Sierra Nevada (US) (mountain range), on the western side of what is nowadays called Donner Pass. On this button a drop-off come and then steep that, back in the 1840's, a pioneers in their way to California got to lower their wagons in ropes sequentially to prove my point. There is a California historical marker in Interstate 80 commemorating this brave and hard project. It reads:
